The whole country has 5 million households raising dogs and cats with 7.5 million

  • Vietnam Livestock Magazine] – According to the Department of Animal Health, statistics from the beginning of the year until now, across the country, there are over 05 million households raising dogs and cats with a total national herd of over 7.5 million heads.

    The total number of vaccine doses administered this year is 3,950,766 doses, the national vaccination rate is estimated at an average of 52%; in which: 20 provinces ) accounted for 31.75%) with vaccination rate >= 70%; 30 provinces and cities (accounting for 47.62%) have vaccination rates from 50 to <70%; 13 provinces and cities (accounting for 13%) have the lowest vaccination rate below 50%.

    As for rabies, from the beginning of 2020 up to now, the whole country has recorded 72 deaths in 34 provinces and cities. Along with that, through the results of rabies assessment in 14 provinces and cities, 32/168 cases of dogs and cats were found positive for rabies virus (accounting for 19.05%). The total number of dogs and cats destroyed is 115.

    In 2020, the whole country has built 17 rabies-safe facilities, of which, Lao Cai has 10 establishments; Hanoi 03 facilities; Da Nang 02 facilities. 03 rabies-free zones in Thanh Xuan and Tay Ho districts of Hanoi city, the whole of Ho Chi Minh City.

    From the beginning of 2020, enterprises have produced and supplied 3.6 million doses of Rabies vaccine; currently in stock of enterprises is 1 million doses; has planned to produce and import 1.8 million doses of vaccine in the fourth quarter of 2020 to ensure adequate supply for disease prevention, vaccination, and epidemic prevention when necessary.
